Professional Experience

Robert Silverman, founder and principal of Silverman Sustainability Solutions, brings more than 30 years of experience advancing environmental governance, sustainability planning, natural resource policy, and conservation initiatives.

Throughout his career, he has partnered with NGOs, government agencies, community-based organizations, Indigenous Nacionalidades and Pueblos, local governments, universities, and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions for complex environmental challenges.

His work focuses on nature-based solutions to climate change, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, sustainable land management, and strengthening community-led approaches that support resilient landscapes and communities. 

Robert Silverman holds dual Master’s degrees in Environmental Management and Natural Resource Economics and Policy from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.

He has also completed advanced professional training in Tropical Forest Landscape Conservation and Restoration through the Yale School of the Environment’s Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative, collaborating with a global cohort of practitioners dedicated to landscape-scale conservation.

His approach combines technical expertise, policy experience, and collaboration with local communities to create sustainable strategies that protect ecosystems while supporting social and economic resilience.
